Elaine E. Stillwell, M.A., M.S., a teacher by profession, became the voice of the bereaved and a leader in the bereavement field sharing her gifts of hope, inspiration and humor telling what she learned to not only cope and survive, but to have a meaningful life again, following the deaths of her two oldest children, 21 year old Denis and 19 year old Peggy in a 1986 car accident.  In addition to speaking nationally, writing for various magazines, and organizing many workshops and conferences for the bereaved, she is well-known as Founder, Chapter Leader and Newsletter Editor of The Compassionate Friends of Rockville Centre, NY (1987-present), Charter Member of Bereaved Parents, USA (1995-present), Board Member of the National Catholic Ministry to the Bereaved (1998-2002), Bereavement Coordinator for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, NY (1998-2010), and Columnist for the national magazine Grief Digest (2003-present). 

In addition to her signature book, The Death of a Child: Reflections for Grieving Parents, Elaine has also written two crafts books for grieving children, Sweet Memories and A Forever Angel (also available on amazon.com), to help them open up and talk about the person who has died.
