Curt Arens is a fourth generation family farmer, veteran farm journalist and award-winning author from Crofton, Nebraska.
His 2008 book, Down to Earth: Celebrating a Blessed Life on the Land, was published by ACTA Publications and received a 2009 Catholic Press Association Award for a book by a first time author. In addition to farming, Arens was a free lance journalist for 25 years, with regular credits in Successful Farming, Living Here, Nebraska Life, American Profile, Upper Room and New Holland News magazines, among others.
He is currently a field editor for Farm Progress Companies, writing feature print and online farm stories primarily for Nebraska Farmer and Dakota Farmer magazines.
Curt is a regular guest on "Morning Air" with Sean Herriott, airing on the Relevant Radio network. He writes a weekly family farm radio show, "Farm to Family Connection," that airs on Yankton, SD stations KKYA and KYNT.
Over the years, Arens has received awards for his work in farm media from the Center for Rural Affairs, Nebraska Forest Service and Northeast Nebraska Experiment Farm Association and University of Nebraska.
Arens and his wife Donna have three children, Lauren, Taylor and Zachary, and a fourth child on the way. They belong to St. Rose of Lima parish in Crofton. Donna teaches junior high English and Literature at St. Rose School. The family is active in gardening, 4-H and parish and school life, volunteering for the St. Rose School Boosters, stewardship campaigns, fundraising activities and other school and parish service projects and events at St. Rose.
